ADSonADSonADS

Purpose - The purpose of this add is to get people to quite smoking. It wants you to be aware of exactly what you're smoking and whats going into you're system. It also wants to scare the audience out of smoking in a way. You can tell by the negative tone, simple message and even the cross bones.

Audience - The target audience for this ad is basically everyone who smokes. Every race, gender, even age. Maybe more specifically for the teens who are just starting, to pay attention to what they are actually getting themselves into. Often ignorant kids don't actually know what they are doing to their self when they smoke.

Genre - This ad is like many other anti-tabacco ads. Dark and a simple message. Don't smoke. Also comes with facts you don't want to know. Its exactly what you would expect from an anti-tabacco ad.

Tone - The tone is negative, dark, and serious. It has somewhat of an intimidating tone to it. Crossbones, black background, and a list of many toxins that just have a negative sound in their name. The advertisers chose this tone because cigarettes have nothing but negative consequences. It fits perfectly and gets their point across without really saying much.

  1. What are the advertisers referencing by listing the ingredients in this manner? Why do you think they are doing so?
